Job Description

The University of Minnesota, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor faculty on the Clinician or Academic Track.

Position Highlights:

  • This clinician scholar faculty member will devote 100% effort to provide clinical activities including critical care and pulmonary, some concurrent education of trainees.
  • The inpatient clinical effort will be at the M Health Fairview Southdale and M Health Fairview Ridges Hospitals, and may include time at other M Health Fairview Hospitals as needed to service patients.
  • Will provide pulmonary outpatient clinic services at the M Health Fairview Clinics and Specialty Center.
  • The faculty will participate actively and contribute to PACCS Division and Department of Medicine academic and clinical programs in pulmonary and critical care. It is encouraged that the faculty develop an area of focus and expertise, developing a regional (or larger) reputation. Current areas of Division need are in critical care and in the management of chronic lung diseases, including interstitial lung diseases, airways disease (COPD, asthma, CF), and lung transplantation. Faculty would participate actively in the relevant multi-disciplinary programs.
  • Faculty will be encouraged to assist in multi-investigator studies in or critical care.
  • Participation in the Division's clinical and research conferences, Fellow's Journal Club and core curriculum lectures and instructing of students, residents and fellows. Clinical effort may be reduced with participation in salary-supported activities (program leadership, educational roles, etc.).
  • This position is ideal for an Intensivist who is interested in building a clinical practice with a significant educational component across both academic and community settings.


About the Division:

The Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep (PACCS) Division includes more than 80 UMN faculty based at four principal hospital sites. We proudly feature nationally recognized programs and leaders in Interstitial Lung Disease, COPD, Lung Transplantation, Critical Care Medicine (Respiratory Failure & ARDS), Cystic Fibrosis, Interventional Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. We aim to find new treatments and cures for diseases in these areas through basic, clinical and ‘big data’ research, while working to prevent respiratory illness. We partner with faculty across the University and colleagues in the community in our research, clinical, education and training efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME Internal Medicine residency and Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine fellowship-training program.
  • Board eligible/certified with the ABIM in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine.
  • Licensed or ability to acquire medical license and DEA in the State of Minnesota, and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
  • Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of the VISA.
