Wake Forest School of Medicine s Department of Emergency Medicine has a rare opportunity to join our academic faculty team as a Clinical Assistant Professor in a position dedicated to clinical teaching and patient care activities during overnight hours in both our adult and pediatric emergency departments. This permanent nocturnist position will be responsible for excellent patient care, bedside teaching of residents and medical students, and participation in the teaching academic mission. A full clinical faculty appointment at the School of Medicine will align this position with opportunities for academic advancement. The ideal candidate for this position will be Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and/or Pediatric Emergency Medicine with demonstrated accomplishments in teaching and education in a clinical environment.

Our Emergency Department has been a Level 1 trauma center since 1982, with numerous specialty accreditations including an accredited chest pain center, stroke center, one of just two burn centers in North Carolina and full subspecialty backup. The co-located Brenner Children's Hospital Emergency Department is North Carolina's first Level 1 pediatric trauma center. Our clinical affiliate physicians staff 27 emergency departments across the state. Together our Emergency Medicine physicians provide services to over 800,000 patients each year. Our Emergency Medicine residency program celebrates 50 years of training this year and is among the oldest in the country with highly competitive recruitment of trainees. Fellowships are offered in Emergency Medicine Research, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medicine Administration/Leadership, EM Ultrasound, EMS, Wilderness Medicine, and Global Emergency Medicine. Our exceptional faculty are highly productive clinically and academically with a well-funded research program, active research projects in many different areas, and high faculty retention.
