Dual Role: Emergency Medicine/Critical Care Physician- EMS Director Caroline County
Emergency Medicine/Critical Care Physician:
Maryland Emergency Medicine Network, is seeking BE/BC Emergency Medicine Physicians with a strong interest in critical care or critical care boarded for its community sites tucked in and around the spectacular Chesapeake Bay on Maryland’s beautiful eastern shore.
We are developing a groundbreaking rural critical care program and looking for physicians to split their time between clinical shifts and this program.
Our practice, affiliated with the University of Maryland Department of Emergency Medicine, staffs and manages 4 Shore Regional Health facilities -- all part of the University of Maryland statewide health system:
• University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton • University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge • University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown • University of Maryland Emergency Center at Queenstown
EMS Medical Director Caroline County:
The Department of Emergency Services is responsible for providing advanced Emergency Medical Services (EMS), emergency planning and coordination for County government, and emergency communications, including 911 dispatch, police communications for the Sheriffs Office and four town police departments, and fire and rescue communications for eight volunteer fire companies and the county EMS responders.
Responsible for the medical oversight of the local Emergency Medical Services operational program, including credentialing, medical quality assurance, education, and planning. Collaborates with the Director of Emergency Services and volunteer fire and EMS leadership to enhance the delivery of emergency medical services within the County. Residency in the County will not be required however, it is desired that the Medical Director reside within the central Delmarva region and be readily accessible for onsite consultation and meetings.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of the design and operation of EMS operational programs and systems, including medical dispatch and communications.
- Thorough knowledge of emergency care of patients who are acutely ill or injured.
- Thorough knowledge, or the ability to acquire such knowledge, of the regulations, protocols, laws, and statutes of the State of Maryland and the County relating to the provision and delivery of Emergency Medical Services.
- Ability to relate to, and develop effective working relationships with, County officials, staff and service clinicians, volunteer fire and EMS Clinicians and leadership, State EMS agencies, local hospital emergency departments and healthcare organizations, and other local governments and agencies.
- Ability to clearly articulate, both orally and in writing, policies, and protocols for a diverse audience.
- Exceptional communication skills and an understanding of the need for frequent communication and feedback.
