The Emergency Center at Lawrence General Hospital

The Lawrence General Hospital Emergency Center is a 41 bed Emergency Room that serves 65,000 visits annually. Features of the Emergency Center include 3 expanded trauma/resuscitation rooms, a dedicated area for CT and X-ray, ED Observation Unit, dedicated Behavioral Health team, and a newly expanded Vertical Area for patient care.

The Emergency Center team includes 22 BC/BE Emergency Physicians and 10 APPs all of whom are under the direction of the Chief of Emergency Medicine. Emergency Physicians in the LGH Emergency Center bring administrative and quality support in the fields of EMS, Ultrasound, International Emergency Medicine, Wilderness Medicine, and Quality and Patient Safety. Family Medicine Residents from the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center also rotate through the Emergency Center.

The Emergency Center Administrative Team is comprised of the Chief of Emergency Medicine, Senior Director of Emergency Services, Nurse Manager, and an Operations Manager.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will demonstrate passion and support the mission and values of Lawrence General Hospital.

• Recruit, orient, mentor, and retain high quality Emergency Physicians and APPs

• Foster an environment of high-quality clinical performance from all Emergency Physicians and APPs. Collaborate with LGH Emergency Center Nursing leadership

• Ensure operational excellence and optimum coverage of emergency services

• Chair and participate in Hospital Committees as required by the role or requested by leadership

• Collaborate with senior leadership to facilitate sharing of knowledge, resources, and Emergency Center operations • Management of Emergency Center fiscal issues, budget, and capital budget

• Participate in the development of the hospital’s Annual Operating Plan

• Review and oversee clinical operations for Stroke, Sepsis, Quality and Safety Review, and the LGH EMS service (directly or through a designee)

• Ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional policies


Candidate Qualifications

• Minimum of MD, DO, or foreign medical equivalent

• Successful completion of an Emergency Medicine residency program

• Eligible for full unrestricted licensure to practice in Massachusetts

• Experience in leadership skills, administrative ability, quality, and operations
