Make a Difference in the Lives of Veterans
The VA Loma Linda Healthcare System (VALLHCS) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Critical Care Physician to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. As a Critical Care Physician at VALLHCS, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our nation's heroes by providing comprehensive critical care to Veterans in a rewarding and supportive environment.
Duties:
At VA Loma Linda Healthcare System, our health care teams are deeply experienced and
guided by the needs of Veterans, their families, and caregivers. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick
leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in
contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance
programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
The duties include but are not limited to:
Work Schedule: Tour and schedule to be determined. Rotating shifts, Weekends, Nights,
Holidays may be required to work. Some call is required.
Preferred Experience: 1 year critical care experience. All applicants must be ABIM board
certified or board eligible in Critical Care.

of the San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains.
Loma Linda is located approximately 60 miles east of Los Angeles in San Bernardino County.
While it is near the highly developed job market of Los Angeles and Orange Counties, it does provide a small town setting for your home, work or recreation. Adjacent to California's Interstate 10 freeway, Loma Linda is freeway close to beaches, mountains and desert resorts.

The duties include but are not limited to:
- Physicians will engage in management of patients in the intensive care unit and consultation services, as well as supervision of residents and fellows. They will be expected to participate in equitable call coverage on a rotating basis with other critical care attendings.
- Perform highly responsible duties in the advanced examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with medical and surgical diseases.
- Evaluate and assimilate input from all sources to develop an appropriate treatment plan.
- Perform critical care procedures as credentialed
- Initiate and manage respiratory support
- Serve as the subject-matter expert/consultant for the field of Critical Care.
- The incumbents are expected to provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and
effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and treatment of disease. The ideal
candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills that enable them to
establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and other members of the
health care team. The incumbents are expected to adhere to stated policies and provide timely
documentation of clinical notes and timely interpretation and closure of diagnostic reports, consults,
and clinic encounters. - In addition, the incumbents are expected to coordinate and communicate the treatment plan with
Hospitalists, nursing staff, social workers, clerical staff, pharmacy and other sub-specialists and
ancillary staff. The ideal candidates will help to ensure that the highest quality patient care is
delivered in a resourceful and efficient manner. - This physician should assist the process improvement and quality assurance projects of the ICU. In
this role, the incumbents will provide feedback and education to the patients and their families and
demonstrate excellence in all facets of patient care and meets or exceeds compliance standards. This would include clinical, research, and educational activities of the Division in a way that contributes to the mission and goals of the organization. The incumbents will provide consultative feedback and management on patients referred from other sections of the hospital and/or affiliated VA outpatient clinics, and perform administrative functions and other tasks as assigned. Physicians would participate as members on committees that impact the hospital delivery of care.
