Job Title: Medical Director - Emergency Medicine
Location: Southern California
Position Overview:
The role of the Medical Director - Emergency Medicine holds a significant leadership position, responsible for steering a substantial team of 75 to 80 contracted physicians across five diverse hospital locations in Southern California. The role incorporates an 80% administrative and 20% clinical component. The successful candidate will oversee all clinical operations, patient care, and quality improvement initiatives within the emergency medicine department, conforming to the highest standards of medical care and patient safety.
Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and direction to the emergency medicine department, managing a team of contracted physicians across various locations.
• Oversee the coordination and quality of emergency care throughout the network.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of emergency services.
• Collaborate with the organization's other medical and professional staff to promote teamwork and ensure a seamless patient care experience.
• Participate in strategic planning and development for emergency services, offering insights and recommendations based on emerging trends in healthcare and emergency medicine.
• Maintain a working knowledge of relevant medical/legal issues that impact patient care and emergency services.
• Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient-centered care within the department.
• Actively participate in professional development and training for emergency department staff.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to junior physicians and staff.
Qualifications:
• Board certification in Emergency Medicine.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency medicine, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in managing large teams across multiple locations.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and project management within a healthcare setting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to foster collaboration and team spirit.
• Up-to-date knowledge of medical research, technology, laws, and regulations related to emergency medicine.
• A steadfast commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
