Emergency Medicine Physician

St Lukes Unity Point in Cedar Rapids is opening an Off Campus Emergency Department. East Central Iowa Acute Care is excited to partner with St Lukes to staff this ED.

We are looking to hire 4 full time BC/BE emergency medicine physicians. We are a privately owned democratic group consisting of 22 BC/BE emergency physicians. 

***$30,000 signing Bonus

*** $10,000 moving expenses

***Base hourly rate of $200 plus benefits for our non-partner physicians (9% matching 401k after the first year)

***Currently ample prn shift availability, particularly if you are willing to drive 1-2 hours. Rates vary by facility ($330-480/hr however, rates fluctuate with demand).

***Partnership eligibility in 1600 hours or 1 year. 

***Partners are paid based on company income and productivity (Average clinical salary $380k/year, potential to earn much more depending on how much you want to work. Many of our partners choose to work 100-120 hr/month)

Our primary location is Unity Point, St Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which is 34 beds and sees 53k patients yearly. Coverage is 49 hour of physician coverage and 32 hour of APP coverage. We have held this contract for >15 years.  We have all specialties at this location (neurosurgery about 50% is the exception). 

We also staff 2 Critical access hospitals at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa, IA (6k visits) and Buchanan Co Hospital in Independence, Iowa (4.5k visits).  Except for site medical directors, shifts are distributed equally by location and shift time.   We have prn contracts with 6-7 hospitals across Eastern Iowa as well.

EMR: EPIC              Dictation: Dragon

Patient per hour avg 1.6-1.7 at St Luke’s, less at the critical access hospitals.  Shift length 12 hours at CAH, variable at St Luke’s (maximum 9 hours).
