Here at Optum, the largest network of medical groups in the nation, we are seeking a dedicated, autonomous, & hard-working Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and/or Emergency Medicine Physician to join our rapidly growing Urgent Care team in the Tri-State markets within Dutchess & Ulster counties (i.e., New York).

We have 4 Urgent Care office locations in these markets, including: Poughkeepsie/Columbia, Fishkill, Rhinebeck, & Kingston. This opportunity will be based at our Poughkeepsie/Columbia office location; however, an ideal candidate would be willing to occasionally provide support at any of the other offices listed when coverage is needed.

Position Highlights:
  • Physician-led, patient centered team-based environment
  • Providing full spectrum Urgent Care for Pediatric & Adult patients, focusing on value-based care, and supported by a robust team of specialists [broad spectrum medicine]
  • Clinical Aptitude: Suture, I&D, Splinting, X-Ray Reading, Care Across the Lifespan (i.e., Pediatrics, Adults, & Geriatrics), Occupational Medicine, Diagnostic and Lab Interpretations, Managing Infection and Wound Care
    • Full-time; Work-Life Balance; Flexible Scheduling
      • Local office hours are:
      • Monday - Friday: 9:00a - 7:00p;
      • Saturday & Sunday: 8:00a - 5:00p
    • Full-Time requires 16 shifts per 4-week scheduling block (i.e., 13 blocks per year; average of 39 hours per week):
      • Twelve (12) required 10-hour weekday shifts per scheduling block (Mon - Fri); &
      • Four (4) required 9-hour weekend shifts per scheduling block (Sat and/or Sun)
    • [Note : As we grow our clinician workforce in this market, we intend to shift to a more traditional schedule of: Mon - Fri from 8:00a - 8:00p & Sat/Sun from 8:00a - 5:00p)]
  • Average patient load:
    • Goal/Target is average of 3 patients per hour (efficiency bonus awarded if average more than 3 patients per hour)

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage a complete continuum of high-quality care within the care team
  • Treat acute diseases and disorders, minor injuries, minor, procedures, ortho/splinting, interpretation of digital X-Ray’s, physical examinations, and more
  • Reviews patient file/record, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunization status
  • Elicits and records information about patient’s medical history
  • Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition
  • Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination and diagnoses condition of patient
  • Oversees and provides collaborative support to Advanced Practice Clinicians

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree (MD or DO) from an accredited program
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or other relevant specialties
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in the State of New York
  • Active and unrestricted DEA License (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Must be CPR certified (or willing to obtain prior to start)
  • DOT certification (or ability to obtain within the first 60 days of employment)
  • You will be provisioned with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are required to perform this role with patients and members on site, as this is an essential function of this role.
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance

New York Residents Only: The salary range for New York residents is $259,790 to $345,400. Salary Range is defined as total cash compensation at target. The actual range and pay mix of base and bonus is variable based upon experience and metric achievement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
