VETERAN PREFERENCE
When applying for employment with Cook County Health & Hospitals System preference is given to honorably discharged Veterans who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States for not less than 6 months of continuous service, who was not dishonorably discharged.

Must successfully meet the credentialing standards established by the Cook County Health and Hospitals System to include a State of Illinois MD license and any other license, certification, or specialized training, etc. no later than two (2) weeks prior to the candidate's start date

- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited American or Canadian Medical School
- Board certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine at the anticipated start date
- Completion of an American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) approved Emergency Medicine residency program by the anticipated start date
- Outstanding letter or recommendation from Emergency Medicine Residency Director or Emergency Medicine Chair
- Recent emergency medicine lecture to academic audience within preceding 12 months
- Knowledge of emergency ultrasounds including ability to perform and teach ultrasound related to the following applications/body areas: FAST, OB-Gyne, vascular procedures, ocular
- Must be licensed as a physician in the State of Illinois
- Valid Illinois Controlled Substance License or ability to obtain License by start of employment
- Valid licensure with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) or eligible to obtain licensure by start of employment
- Available to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to manage multiple patients simultaneously

- Thorough knowledge of Emergency Medicine practice and procedures
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal and patient relation skills
- Ability to supervise, direct, and review activities of students, residents and physician extenders
- Ability to work well with nursing, ancillary and consulting staff
- Ability to make fast paced/accurate medical judgments
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
