This position is located in the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia.

As a Physician ( Emergency Medicine) you will:
Provides direct expert patient care to patients in the Emergency Department to include the following medical, surgical procedures: evaluation, examination, diagnosis and treatment of medical disorders, cardioversion, and defibrillation as well evaluation, examination diagnosis and treatment of surgical disorders including life saving emergency cardiac surgery and lessor procedures. Symptoms are often obtrudes, or there are overlapping symptoms due to the presence of more than one condition or ailment, or the symptoms might be indicative of either a simple or complicated diagnostic and testing procedure. Considerable ingenuity required in identifying these symptoms and developing a proper treatment regimen. Orders appropriate laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic tests; interprets the total medical and surgical evidence, incorporating information into an accurate diagnosis or appraisal; institutes proper treatment and patient care.
Responsible for the supervision and education of assigned GMOs, Pas, emergency medicine residents and/or rotating house staff. Directs care of patients being evaluated by consulting house staff in the Emergency Department. After normal duty hours serves as the only staff physician in the hospital; provides clinical guidance to house staff until service specific staff arrive provided that this does not entail a duty to see patients outside of the Emergency Department or assure responsibility for care of patients outside of the Emergency Department.
Facilitates patient access to continuing medical care by appropriate referrals to other health care providers and operating within the policies and regulations of the hospital. Renders consultative opinions to other physicians and auxiliary health personnel in the areas of expertise. Maintainshealth and clinical records in accordance with current regulations and standards.
Makes recommendations for appointment, promotion, or reassignment of emergency medicinepositions. Counsels medics, nurses, and house staff. Hears and resolves complaints, referring moreserious complaints not resolved to higher level supervisors. Takes corrective action on conduct orperformance problems. Effects minor disciplinary measures such as evaluations and warnings;recommends action in more serious cases. Promotes the participation of subordinates in programssuch as the suggestion program, etc. Participates with supervisor in review of and makesrecommendations on improvement of work methods, organizational features and the restructuringof positions. Identifies and recommends developmental and training needs of employees.

Board Certified/ Eligible
Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
