The Intensivist / Critical Care Provider is accountable to the VP of Medical Affairs. Intensivist’s specialize in intensive care. They work in a hospital setting, in the ICU, MICU, PACU and in certain circumstances, SICU and may be on-call during non-regular hours. They also consult on non-ICU floors on in-patients who require pulmonary consults and care. They also can be assigned a regularly scheduled out-patient office pulmonary clinic schedule. They evaluate & treat new patients, diagnose & stabilize critically ill patients, treat those with impending or active organ failure or other life-threatening conditions. They initiate advanced cardiac life support until a cardiac code team arrives & then supervise & support the team. The Intensivist maintains regular communication with the Referring Physicians to include telephone or in-person contact, a clinical update whenever there is a significant change in a patient’s status and inclusion on copies sent of discharge plan.

Minimum Education: M.D, or D.O. degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy.
Minimum Experience:
Board Certification in Surgery or Internal Medicine
Required Certification/Registration:
Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing. Psycho-motor skills allowing for insertion of airways, chest tubes, arterial lines,

Working Conditions:
• Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well- lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards.
• Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform a full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs.
• Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills, and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.

- Board Certification/Board Eligibility Pulmonary and/or Critical Care
