The Emergency Medicine Department seeks a Full-Time Assistant Medical Director to join The Mount Sinai Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine.
The Assistant Medical Director will report to the Medical Director and develop short/long term plans for on-going improvement of the clinical, operation and administrative quality of the department. This role will also include clinical time commitment.
As the Assistant Medical Director, you will develop and implement streamlined processes to ensure safe, quality and efficient medical care. This includes maintaining EPIC documents and educating clinical staff.
The Assistant Medical Director will manage collaborative efforts with Population Health and Utilization Review Committee. Within Population Health, you will provide ongoing education on outpatient care, patient selection and the referral process. You will manage the utilization review process, collaborate with utilization management to maximize functionality of caseworkers in the ED and assist with implementing procedures and protocols for decreasing denials.
As the liaison between the department and the office of patient relations, you will oversee the monitoring, review and reporting of departmental Sepsis metrics, education and improvement.

Position Qualifications:
• Medical Degree from an Accredited University
• New York Medical License
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
• Clinical and Administrative experience preferred
• Committed to Mount Sinai and the communities we serve
• Excellent communication, bedside manner and organizational skills
• A strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team-oriented, performance-driven Health System
• Availability to work within the Urgent Care Network. Site assignment will be mutually agreed upon.
The Department of Emergency Medicine is committed to excellence in emergency clinical care, education, and research. The Emergency Medicine Service Line has more than 200 faculty and treats more than 500K patients annually.
The Department of Emergency Medicine has two EM residencies along with Fellowships in Pediatric EM, Global Health, Ultrasound, Informatics, Sports Medicine, Administration, Simulation, and Research. Each year, our EM training programs educate about 150 residents and more than 15 fellows.
