Facility Information

Bear Valley Community Hospital provides services to the residents, 2nd homeowners, and visitors of Big Bear Valley who are in need of emergency medical care.

Serving Big Bear Valley, for nearly 40 years, this hospital has provided easy-access emergency medical and acute care, here on the mountain, close to home.

This facility is the top performing hospital in San Bernardino and Riverside counties per HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems), is a government national hospital compare survey. The survey asks patients about their experiences during a recent hospital stay. On average among the 10 questions asked about patients’ hospital experience, this hospital ranks above the California and National Average. It is especially noteworthy that the doctors and nurses rank 88% when it comes to “Always” communicating well with patients. The California average on communication ranks 71% and the National average is 76%.

The Emergency Department is a seven bed patient treatment area providing initial evaluations and treatment to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. The department is staffed 24 hours per day with an emergency department physician along with midlevel coverage on weekends and holidays.
