Summary:

Goldbelt Glacier is seeking a qualified Physician to collaborate with hospitals, healthcare coalitions, biotech firms, community members, state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, and other partners across the country to improve readiness and response capabilities. The Physician will work with patients to diagnose and treat a wide variety of common health problems, illnesses, disorders, and injuries.

This position includes 100% travel to all 50 states and US territories.

Essential Job Functions:


    Responds to emergency situations. This includes routine minor illness, medical emergencies, and trauma. Builds volunteer medical response teams. Directs triage, patient transport, and medical supervision at mass casualty incidents. Interfaces with other response team sections. Maintains readiness of emergency equipment and supplies
    Utilize expertise to mitigate and treat injuries and illnesses to ensure proper injury care and disease diagnosis, treatment and recovery, request necessary tests and follow-up visits and refer patients to specialists as necessary.
    Assess patients that enter the emergency room immediately and oversee emergency patient’s recovery.
    Conduct follow-up visits to monitor the patient’s condition.
    Request the appropriate medical tests and based on them, follow a treatment plan.
    Develop effective patient care plans.
    Refer patients to appropriate specialists.
    Ensure that patients are stable before transferring them to the proper department for further evaluation.
    Provide instructions for discharge and any relevant paperwork.
    Maintain the patient’s medical records.
    Coordinate with different ER departments to ensure patients receive the necessary treatment.
    Determines the need for emergency air evacuation of seriously ill or injured patients to appropriate medical centers in Anchorage and Fairbanks.
    Diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries of the workforce according to collaborative agreement with the supervising physicians.
    Conducts laboratory and electro-cardiograph diagnostic procedures as required.
    Refers patients to appropriate consulting physicians within Alaska when required.
    Prescribes and dispenses appropriate pharmaceuticals including controlled substances as approved by the supervising physician, within the scope of the collaborative agreement and in accordance with DEA regulations.
    Leads weekly training sessions of the Medical Emergency Response Team.
    Maintains medical records according to company policies and expected standards of medical practice.

    Necessary Skills and Knowledge:


      Organization, written communication, and oral communication skills
      Practice aseptic techniques as necessary; comply with infection control guidelines to include the proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes, and the use of universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection.
      Function with an awareness and application of safety procedures.
      Apply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strive to manage situations in a reduced risk manner.
      Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights, as identified within the MTF.
      Exercise appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care, and clinic activities.
      Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
      Analytical thinker and complex problem-solver

      Minimum Qualifications:


        Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy completed an approved Emergency Medicine Residency and is Emergency Medicine Board certified.
        Board Certification or Eligibility by their specialty American or Osteopathic Board
        A current, valid unrestricted medical license in one of the U.S. states, territories, or commonwealths
        Active hospital credentials and privileges
        Certifications: Applicable certification according to requirements for specialties, i.e., Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS), etc.
        Actively practicing in specialty with minimum experience of three (3) years in their respective specialty post-board certification.

        Preferred Qualifications:


          Board certification in a primary care specialty, such as Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Preventive Medicine, or Emergency medicine
          Board certification in Psychiatry
