Children's Hospital & Medical Center, with the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, is currently recruiting a BE/BC Pediatric Intensivist and BE/BC pediatric cardiac intensivists.
Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) division supports a 26-bed Pediatric ICU as well as a variable-acuity 32-bed Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), including both Cardiac ICU and cardiac step-down patients. We have a full complement of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties. The faculty also support an 8-bed PICU at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, which is home to one of the largest solid organ transplant programs in the country.
Candidates must have a strong clinical background, with interest and experience with clinical or basic science research, and/or quality and safety initiatives. All faculty will be responsible for teaching medical students, residents and fellows. The candidate will join the PCCM division with existing 19 pediatric intensivists and hold a faculty position at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. The division also includes a large complement of Advanced Practice Providers (APP) working in both the units, PICU and CCU. The division started a new fellowship program in PCCM in July 2022, and currently has 1 fellow.

Pediatric Intensivist
- Candidate must be fellowship trained and be Board-eligible or certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics.
- The ideal candidate would have an interest in research and/or leading quality improvement projects. Post fellowship experience for 2 years or more preferred, though not mandatory
- The faculty are engaged in several areas of interest including transport, ECMO, palliative care, and simulation. Research interests are strongly desired and supported. Several members of the faculty actively participate in the multi-institutional PALISI network for clinical research.
- A multidisciplinary sedation service is in the planning stages.
- This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our newly opened 32 bed variable acuity Cardiac Care Unit (CCU). The current CCU faculty consists of 2 cardiac surgeons, 20 cardiologists, 5 cardiac intensivists, and 4 pediatric intensivists. Candidates must have a strong clinical background including post-operative cardiac care; an interest and experience in VAD management is ideal.
- Position is open to persons with either dual-fellowship training in both pediatric cardiology and pediatric critical care medicine, or a fellowship in cardiology or critical care along with a 4th year fellowship in CICU.
- The Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Heart Center at Children's Hospital & Medical Center provides care for patients of all ages, including fetuses, newborns, toddlers, preteens, adolescents, and adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD). Our multidisciplinary team treats the full range of pediatric and adult congenital heart conditions. The Heart Center is a certified Aetna Institute of Excellence for pediatric congenital heart surgery.
