Licensing and Education Requirements:

Board certified in Emergency Medicine

5-10 years of clinical experience (preferred)

5 years of group leadership (preferred)

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Provider Management:

Manage recruitment and retention of provider staff

Maintain regular reviews and evaluations of providers

Interview provider candidates

Participate in on-boarding of new providers to ensure they have a full understanding of operational procedures

Monitor the overtime rate of providers across the system to ensure department goals are achieved

Create routine schedule, call schedule, and staffing models for the Capital Health Emergency Department

Clinical Workflow & Operations:

Be accountable for the optimal operating efficiency of staff and develop/maintain a patient-centered approach to clinical care

Develop and maintain a process to review note closure rates and plan to mitigate deficiencies across the system

Meet with Utilization Review and Medical team leadership to identify opportunities for proper bed assignment and level of care

Lead the ED Operations, ED leadership and ED Documentation meetings. Participate in other required meetings such as OBS Operations and CHMG Inpatient Operations

Assist with implementation of Surge management

Analyze metrics and review analysis with Senior Capital leaders

Review clinical variation of practice and promote best practices

Provide new disease management oversight

Work in conjunction with emergency management systems to ensure emergency preparedness

Quality

Keep abreast of local, regional and national trends in science and education as related to emergency medicine and communicate this information to staff, faculty and administration

Liaison to committees such as Sepsis, AMI/CPC, stroke accreditation and Patient Satisfaction, Neuro Operations, Resuscitation, Maternal/child, and Radiology

Appoint committees and leadership roles as needed to further the goals and functions of the Department

Address reported safety events, participate in adverse event review, and work directly with providers to ensure continued performance improvement

The Capital Health Chair of Emergency Medicine will have oversight of all emergency departments within the system. This includes the Hopewell Adult’s Emergency Room (45,000 visits annually), the Hopewell Pediatric Emergency Room (22,000 visits annually), Regional Medical Center Emergency Room (60,000 visits annually), Deborah Satellite Emergency Room (20,000 visits annually) and the newly acquired Capital Health Satellite Emergency Room at East Trenton (20,000 visits annually).

The Chair of Emergency Medicine will be responsible for all Emergency Departmental clinical and patient care concerns and oversee Capital Health’s Emergency Departments. This is a hands on role, focusing on operational programmatic growth, including communication with senior leadership and the medical staff.
