What You’ll Be Doing

The Medical Director of Urgent Care Services will be responsible for the implementation, quality, and timeliness of clinical care, along with assist in strategic growth and overall culture creation of Urgent Care Services for CarePoint Health.

The successful candidate will be able to:

Facilitate efficient and effective delivery of Urgent Care services
Direct local facets of Urgent Care clinical performance, strategic performance, fiscal oversight, and process improvements
Possess the authority and responsibility for carrying out established policies and for providing overall direction to attending physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing and support staff of Urgent Care
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Urgent Care center including, ensure there are no unreasonable delays or barriers in patient flow. Physician will inform System Lead of any issues as they arise.
Assure the quality, safety, and appropriateness of Urgent Care services in the center
Address any unforeseen after hours issues, staffing contingencies, etc.
Provide operational statistics monthly to hospital/system leadership when requested
Oversee Urgent Care policy maintenance, revision, and refreshment
Attend hospital meetings when requested, organize Urgent Care committee meetings as deemed necessary
Investigate and respond to physician, advanced practice provider, other staff complaints, and patient complaints
Act as collaborating physician for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants
Partner with IT and Business Intelligence to assure accurate data collection and performance metrics are obtained
Assist with planning and implementation of new creative programs for patient volume expansion, relations with community, marketing, and awareness
Evaluate new technologies that may be useful to operational efficiency, patient care and outcomes
Attend recruitment events, oversee candidate interview process and orientation of new physicians/advanced practice providers
Create Urgent Care Provider schedule and will work clinically at least one weekend shift per month
Perform daily Urgent Care huddles when on site, or assuring they occurred when off-site
Provide weekly emails/communication to Urgent Care Staff to provide operational updates, feedback and improvement platforms
Ensure Urgent Care charts are completed in a timely manner and that the charts comply with quality standards expected per national Urgent Care Standards
Perform any and all other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

Doctorate of Medicine or Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine required
Successful completion of accredited Emergency Medicine Residency in United States with Active Board Certification in Emergency Medicine from ABEM or AOBEM required
At least three (3) years of active practice Emergency Medicine experience Required, and at least two (2) years Urgent Care experience required
Valid NJ MD or DO license required
Maintain all appropriate approvals to prescribe and dispense drugs under applicable New Jersey State and federal law (CDS DEA license)
Prior Leadership Experience Preferred
Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
Awareness of regulatory, billing, risk environments with ability to articulate a vision for growth strategy
