UT Health East Texas is seeking a Faculty Medical Director of ICU/Critical Care Services in BEAUTIFUL East Texas.

Required qualifications:

Current board certification in critical care or pulmonary critical care medicine. Five years of experience in clinical medicine, working in an ICU setting. Experience spent in a clinical leadership role with demonstrable participation and outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as teaching faculty in a residency or fellowship training program. Experience with ECMO and ventricular assist devices.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Serve as a leader in establishing/revising and implementing program guidelines, policies, procedures, protocols, and critical care order sets to improve the quality of patient care.
  • Serve as a leader in collaboration with administration, physicians, nurses, and other care team members.
  • Advance a dyad partnership with nursing to have an integrative and transparent culture within critical care services.
  • Develop and implement a standard protocol for how critical care Advance Practice Providers collaborate with the Intensivists and the care team.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with the CMO or his designee to review infection rates, ICU LOS/bed management concerns readmits to the ICU, nursing care topics, provider care concerns, and areas of focus for the month.
  • Revitalize and participate in the system’s Critical Care Committee to produce a more uniform and collaborative culture of critical care across multiple disciplines.
  • Actively participate in initiatives to expand the critical care footprint, including ECMO and advanced heart-failure programs and critical care fellowship training.
  • Collaborate with GME programs to ensure an excellent teaching environment for residents and for fellows.
  • Participate in direct patient care and resident/fellow teaching at least 8 weeks out of the year.
  • Collaborate with Administration to develop a plan to address critical care needs across the UT system in East TX.
  • Participate in the Ardent Critical Care Service line to represent the opinions and concerns of the UTHET region.
