Job Title:Medical Director, Urgent Care Centers

Location: Miami-Dade County

General Description:

The University of Miami Health System is partnering with Jackson Memorial Hospital in the opening of several urgent care centers throughout Miami-Dade County. The Medical Director will provide BOTH clinical support and directorship. He/she will oversee the strategic and operational network development for all of the urgent care centers, relying on strong business and clinical acumen, with competency across a wide array of planning disciplines. This leader is responsible for the development and evaluation of new and changing clinical models, marketing and public relations strategies, patient and physician satisfaction, community interactions, and business/physician relationships that will advance and align the desired priorities of the organization, including the growth in market share.

The Medical Director holds the senior medical administrative position in network of urgent care centers. Responsible for a number of activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services such as cost management, utilization review, quality assurance, and medical protocol development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists UHealth's clinical and administrative personnel by participating in the interview process for the recruitment of new UCC physicians.

• Participates in the training and ongoing supervision of UCC providers.

• Responsible for all medical care rendered by practitioners and ancillary medical personnel.

• Addresses emergency issues related to patient care.

• Oversee clinical peer review for UCC physicians.

• Oversees the scheduling and ensures covearage 365-366 days a year at all 5 UCCs sites. Organizes and coordinates all medical services rendered throughout the facilities.

• Works with medical staff to ensure the highest quality and appropriateness medical care provided

• Provides guidance and leadership to all providers.

• Participates in the development of educational programs.

• Responsible for the random audit of medical records to ensure appropriateness and effectiveness of medical care.

• Attends all staff, practitioner, and other standing meetings as appropriate (board, committee, etc.).

• Participates with JHS leadership in the strategic development of the UCCs.

• Supervises centers quality assurance activities and ensures appropriate and efficient systems in patient care, formulary content and medical supplies.

• Develops, improves and enforces treatment guidelines.

• Direct and prepare for regulatory activities, audits, FDA submissions, inspections and crises.

• Strategically implement standards of practice, development and tracking of outcome measures and other metrics.

• Assist with case reviews for referral for additional services, specialist referrals, and treatment requests exceeding the treatment guidelines for the UCC.

• Participates in administrative decision making and recommends and approves policies and procedures.

• Participates in the review and research of clinical patient complaints.

• Responsible for ongoing performance appraisals of medical personnel.

• Collaborates in ensuring the viability of the organization through the development of the annual budget, adherence to budgetary guidelines, and oversight of provider productivity.
