Company

Northwestern Medicine is a growing, nationally recognized health system that provides world-class care at 11 hospitals and more than 200 locations in communities across Chicago, the suburbs and Northern Illinois. Together with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, we are pushing boundaries in our research labs, training the next generation of physicians and scientists, and pursuing excellence in patient care.

Our vision and values are deeply rooted in the idea that patients come first in all we do. We value building relationships with our patients and their families, listening to their unique needs while providing individualized primary, specialty and hospital-based care. Our recent affiliations and ongoing growth make it possible for us to serve more patients, closer to where they live and work.

Anchored by Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago, the geographical reach of Northwestern Medicine extends to the northern suburbs, to McHenry County in the northwest, to greater DeKalb County in the far west, and to the southwest and south suburbs. This range allows us to meet the growing demand for academic medicine that is delivered in convenient locations in local communities. No matter where our patients enter the Northwestern Medicine system, they have access to leading-edge approaches to health, wellness and disease, supported by evidence-based medicine and research that is translated into clinical practice.

The Northwestern Medicine medical staff includes approximately 5,500 physicians who provided care through more than 104,000 inpatient admissions and more than 2.2 million outpatient registrations in fiscal year 2020.

One guiding principle of Northwestern Medicine is our commitment to improving the health of the communities we serve. We believe strong communities are healthy communities. In fiscal year 2019, we contributed approximately $1.06 billion in community benefits programs, inclusive of charity care, other unreimbursed care, research, education and other community benefits.
