The Department of Emergency Medicine at John Peter Smith Health Network in Fort Worth, Texas is seeking an enthusiastic medical educator to join our expanding residency education team.   The program at JPS was established in 2011 as a fully accredited three-year program with 15 residents per class.  The emergency department cares for over 130,000 patients per year, serving Tarrant County as the area’s only safety net hospital, Level 1 trauma center,  and comprehensive stroke center.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have an established track record in education, teaching, research, recent scholarly activity, and outstanding clinical service.  Candidate must be board certified in emergency medicine (ABEM/ABOEM) and completion of an accredited residency program in emergency medicine.  3 years prior core faculty experience, prior residency leadership, or completion of an educational fellowship or advanced degree related to education required. Demonstrated interest and aptitude for residency education in emergency medicine.

APD / Conference Director Duties:

The APD will maintain a full-time position in the Emergency Department at JPS as well as supervise Emergency Medicine Residents, medical students, house officers from other specialties, nurses, technicians, and other health care workers in the Emergency Department at JPS while on-duty as the Emergency Attending Physician. 

As Conference Director, duties will include the opportunity for curriculum development, coordination of the conference schedule to maintain institutional and ACGME requirements, and strategic involvement with the residency leadership team to provide meaningful faculty and resident development.
